What is the Vaganova Method?
The Vaganova Method is a respected system of classical ballet training developed by Russian dancer and teacher Agrippina Vaganova in the early 20th century. Her method combines the strength of Italian ballet with the softness of the French style, creating a distinctive and effective way of teaching. It has been used to train some of the world’s most renowned dancers, such as Anna Pavlova and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Unlike RAD or other systems, the Vaganova Method trains the whole body. Each step connects the arms, legs, torso, and head. This creates balance, strength, and control in every movement. Students learn not only steps but also how to express themselves through dance. The method builds discipline, posture, and physical strength. It also helps students grow in confidence, musicality, and grace.
This style of Russian Vaganova ballet is known for its elegance and high standard. It prepares dancers not only for the stage but also for life.
